Core Story World
In our play the internet has become an immersive virtual world. Many people spend more and more time online where different realms provide opportunities for education, work and leisure.
The online world is accessed through an implant in the back of the neck that connects to the nervous system in order to create an immersive, sensory experience that looks, feels, smells and sounds absolutely real. Even children get the implant and learn to navigate online from early on.

Topics
We identified three main topics of the play that we want to emphasize throughout the experience:
Family and Love
Lonely Girl deals with a lot of universal topics which are already relatable in our world. The strongest one is the death of one ́s beloved children as a cause of unbearable pain and grief. In all cultures this is a relatable pain and a cause of trauma that has always been and will always be relevant. The play also asks the question of the way in which we will live and love in the future. We are going to spend more and more time online: How will we interact with each other?
Human existence and death
The wish to bring back the dead and reverse a mistake is something that most people know.
But what if we could do so – or at least pretend to do so? And what would happen if we all became fully digital? What about the perks? What would it cost? What would remain of a person if we were just an algorithm?
Virtual Reality and Augmented
RealityVirtual reality and augmented reality are technologies which are emerging and developing quickly. The first few VR glasses for consumers are widely available now and the first games have been published. Virtual reality and augmented reality can enrich the world we live in. So how will we live in the future? Will we always be online and will our world be the same? Will we still be social if anything we want is always accessible on the web? Will we be even more egoistic? What kind of danger do we expect from virtual reality and augmented reality? Will technology be our downfall? If humanity had to choose, would we choose perfection instead of authenticity?
